New Baby Bristlenoses

Hello,

I found about 11 baby bristlenoses in my 75L tank today. They are in there with both parents and some other small fish which haven't seemed to bother them. Should I set up a nursery tank and remove the babies? I don't want to have to cycle another tank so unless this is necessary I'd rather not. Will the father keep looking after them now that they've hatched and ventured out, or could the parents eat them?

I've heard of people feeding the babies the same way they feed the adults, but they're less than a cm long and spread throughout the tank, will they find food from afar if I drop it in the normal place?

Ah congrats on your babies! I have some bn's who are constantly breeding! They are in a 260 litre set up with mollies, platys, gouramis and an angel. None of the fish bother the baby bn's at all. They have lots of plant, wood and caves to hide in,- but they're on full view most of the time! Best of luck with yours!

Thank you! Now I just have to figure out where to put them once they grow up a bit -- obviously I can't keep them in the current tank, and there are more than I thought, I think I counted 16 yesterday. My current tank was at capacity as it was, I think, so this will be interesting!

I either give mine to friends once big enough, or to local fish shop who give them on to schools/colleges/hospitals they have a list of.

how do you sex these little guys ive got two and had them for about 8 months and theyre always swimming together
