New aquarium, Need stocking and handling advice

Got it. That means you are restricted to lower plants that can reach and spread on the surface or just under it.

Another issue to consider though is the surface area of the water that is open to the air above. This is crucial for a good exchange of oxygen/CO2, and surface disturbance is an important part of this. I don't know just how large of an area is open to the air. If this is an issue, can lowering the water level help?
 
Update: no fishes yet, I'm adding another 45 l'intera aquarium, and bought Salvinia auriculata natans as a floating tank.
Will put Guppy in the new one with sapphire neocaridina and a Betta with amano shrimps in the One with the photos
