Hi,
I recently started keeping fish as a way to relax and de-stress. I started off at a local fish store hoping that their expertise would ease me into the world of fish keeping. I was sadly mistaken, but it did lead me to a wonderful discovery: fry! The fish I had purchased were pregnant platys and only days after I had taken them home, I had a bunch of fry zooming around my tank! From then on, I became obsessed with fish care and researching all about fish! Since I am so new to this hobby, I would appreciate any help from more experienced people.

:fish::hi::fish:hi there welcome to the forum, there are loads of very experiences hobbies here that could answer any of the questions you many have, I personally know lots about aquatic plants, aqua scaping but there are people here with experience with everything.

Get yourself over to seriouslyfish.com as this place (including its back pages accessed via the search button) and seriously fish.com are the best places to learn about your new hobby. Just enter any fish name you like into its search facility and just about everything you need to know will appear once you click on your fish.

Welcome - and as soon as you can sex your fry - separate them out! At the moment they will just look like bits of thread with eyes, but they will grow rapidly (the adult fish will scoff as many as they can, but there will aways be a few- say 50 or so ) that mange not to get eaten. If you live them together you will very quickly be overrun (overswum?) with platies and your tank won't be able to support the sheer number of fish in there.

It looks like you picked the wrong species to use as a de-stressor! However you have chosen a wonderful hobby - and I'm sure you will quickly become as passionate about it as we are.
