New and need you!

hey im amy and i have joined to learn lots new things about tropical fish. my boyfriend works in a tropical fish centre and has got me mad about fish. especially lovely looking ones. so i thought id learn a little about fish myself. my birthday is soon and im hoping to get a biorb, and it would be really helpful if you guys on here could help me with some advice.

You'll probably become a betta fanatic, since they are pretty fish, and you should also ask questions in the beginners section.

Hi Amy,

to the forums.

My first and honest suggestion would be....don't get the biOrb!!

It doesn't really give you a lot of scope so far as keeping fish is concerned because of its pretty low volume capacity.

For the price of a tropical biOrb you could easily kit yourself out with a nice 20/30 gallon tank with the necessary filters, lights etc. The extra volume this would give you means you would have a far greater array of fish that you could keep.

thanx for your advice. i dont really know what to get, i have the room for a biorb which was gunna go in the living room but a long tank i cant think where id put it! my boyfriend said what you said about the biorb, he's kinda giving up nagging at me about it.

i agree with steve. dont get a biOrb as you will be limited to certain fish like abetta
(not that there is anything wrong with bettas LOL)
