Well, I went and bought a 3gal for a betta or two. It's filtered and heated and I have a divider, but I need some insight from all you betta people. Is it really best to have two males where they can see each other 24 hours a day? Doesn't that get stressful? I would love to get two, but I do worry that I might be causing uneeded stress. If it would be better to just have one, that's what I'll do.Thanks.

The thing with having two males next to each other is that they will stop flaring after awhile, and not pay attention to any of your attempts (with mirrors, etc) to get them to do it. If you don't mind this, I don't think stress is going to be a problem. At first, all they would probably do is flare at each other, but it's not so stressful IMO that it would be really harmful for them. If you had to, you could get some opaque plastic or something from a craft store to put between the two. I know of lots of people who do that. Good luck!
