We bought a new 29 gallon (109 Litres) tank yesterday and doing a fishless cycle. I have read the articles on this board but I am confused about a few things. I have added water conditioner and that is the only chemical I have added. I have heard various of opinions of adding bacteria to the water and not quite sure what to believe. Could I use rock from my other aquarium to help out the process?I also heard heard to speed up the process to increse the temprature in the tank. Right now the temp is at 87degrees (30.5 C) What are my options?

As far as adding fish I have Danios, Platys, Guppies, Mollies and Swordtails that I am going to put in it. I know that I should add Danios since they are the hardiest but what after that? I also know that I should introduce them a little at a time. What I am confused about is when to introduce them. I have heard anywhere from 48 hours up to 1 month after I have set up the tank.

Danios are often used to cycle tanks but I don't think they are especially hardy and I personally wouldn't use a fish to get my tank cycling. Have a read of the above thread and go from there :)

I actually meant to do so after I am done cycling...

How are you introducing ammonia? Shrimp, fish food or pure ammonia?

I dont like danios, they are too active and eat too fast for me, when i used to have them i would feed fish and afterwards my danios would be fat and my other fish wouldnt have gotten anything. But they are VERY hardy IME so if you want them go ahead and have them lol.

Pure ammonia and I was suprised to find it so cheap (less than $1). At my fish store the girl suggest to use fish food to introduce ammonia but I thought pute ammonia would be better.
