Hi, I  just wanted to post a few pics of my new 200lt tank.
I'm pretty new to the hobby but thought I'd just jump in with both feet:)

I've got 6 guppies (2 male 4 female), 3 corys, 6 plattys(not sure of sex on these yet and 6 tertras.

Hi cooper and
welcomeani.gif
 to TFF!
How did you prepare the tank for your fish?

Hi, I used the bacterial starter the shop gave me with the kit, but after reading alot of forums reviews on these i decided to do a fish in cycle, so far the fish seem quite happy and all the levels look ok.

just a few more pics

Nice looking tank, I really like the scaping.

Good luck with cycling, just remember to check and change the water until you've cycled.

Personally not a big fan of live-bearers but that is one heck of a tank!

It is a lovely set up! Nice detailing in the 2nd lot of photos.
Do you have a liquid water testing kit? If not it would be worth getting one so that you can keep an eye on the water parameters and do immediate water changes whenever ammonia and nitrIte are positive - even at 0.25ppm they are toxic to fish. You will find that doing fish-in cycling means doing frequent water changes (maybe twice daily depending on the results) and will prolong the cycle because in doing the necessary water changes you are removing the very thing that promotes the bacteria responsible for removing ammonia and nitrIte.
This is why fishless cycling is preferred - it's less harmful to the fish, takes less time and is less labour intensive than fish-in cycling. It does however require patience as doing the process properly can take a few weeks unless there is some mature media to kick-start the process. Very few of the "starter" kits that LFSs sell actually work.
