Why would you give up keeping bettas just because you lost one betta I wouldn't do it and I haven't I've had at least 3 or 4 bettas die but I keep getting them because I like there color and there personality.

this is my 3rd male that has died less than 6 months after buying it.
I don't feel that I am the best person to keep bettas,
I feel that maybe he would've lived longer if someone else had him.

But I would have to say that you provided a better home than the lfs would have.

Wolf, just an idea and a suggestion:

Get a Betta from one of the forum members. You can be in on the spawning through to the shipment to your door. We have several preparing to spawn. Synirr has just received her black copper CT to spawn w/her black copper plakat Lady. Mosey on over, she has at least 3 threads: She tried twice to spawn an older, but beautiful male. She succeeded in getting him shredded by an impatient Lady: H*** hath no fury like a woman scorned. Remember that!

Anyway, if a black copper CT plakat is appealing give it 3 to 5 months. Maybe you would like to try a female? They aren't as flashy but they have personality.

Those first spawn attempts are funny tho. Poor old duffer!

We know you are a good fishkeeper and care for your animals.

No, its not your fault. Are they all from the same shop? Don't give up yet, try getting a younger one from someone on here. Bettaman has a fair few left over.

Seriously though Wolf, I can understand if bettas just aren't your thing, but if you do like them and aren't afraid to try again, I'd be happy to send you one for the cost of shipping (~$4) come warmer weather. I've got a spawn of plakat marbles right now, some of which will be copper and/or doubletail, and then there's that spawn of long-finned copper combtails jollysue mentioned... come on, I know you totally want one

They'd be healthier than pet store bettas usually are and you'd know exactly how old they are so you wouldn't accidentally buy a fish that's already geriatric... <pushing bettas on you like a crack dealer>
