i have got 2 4 inch long kissing gouramis, had them about 2 weeks, and if i g near the tank, they go mad dashing about, and bashing into the glass, jumping out of the water... why are they so nervous? my tank is 21 inches high, by 35 inches wide im new to all this so please help! is my tank too small, i know im gona have to get a bigger 1 , as they grow big!

Do you happen to have a picture of them? I shouldn't think they should be scared of you. Do you have any other fishes in the tank? What are your water test readings?

it would help if you could tell us about other tank mates.

Kissing gourami can be very nervous fish, since they are new, i'd just say they're settleing in. How long have you had them?

sorry i dont know how to get pic of them on here im new to all this, il try tho during week..., i have 1 plec about 6 inches long, and 4 tetras, and two kissing gouramis (4 inches long) had them for two week now... whats a water reading?... :-(

It seems we may have found your 'problem' here.

A water reading is something that you need to do. You need to go your local fish shop and try to get a water testing kit. You'll need this kit to test your water with.

Try to get an all-in-one testing kit that'll check on ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, PH, and if you can GH/KH (water hardness).

Fishes need a good home to live in, and if the water is bad they'll catch all sorts of diseases.

That is why you need to also clean your tank at least once a week. They can't do it themselves. Your tank won't clean itself either.

Hope this helps. There are plenty of people in this forum who can help you also.

Good luck!
