After talking to andywg on irc he said a couple could go in my 2' (on their own), he mentioned a SG of around 1.010 would be good?

apart from that - any thoughts on keeping them in that size tank, how many, ownership experiences, feeding, tank layout etc.

The tank size should be pleanty, they only get to about 3" if i remember rightly.
 
yep you are correct CFC, only get to about 3", they generally only eat live food, however they can be crossed over to dead with a little effort. strangely enough wildwoods have some now in stock that are already on dead food. watch yourself with
them, they can string you and trust me you will wanna chew you hand off if you get tagged by one. :)
 
cracking fish, i can see why Andy likes them, they are fish with a character :)
