Neons

Nearly right, but the other way round; thin are males, fat are females. (sounds like my relationship)

Don't males also have a straighter strip while the females changes direction a bit in the middle?? (probably because they are fat! :D )

Thanks.

No all my neons look the same.

I am going to have a go at breeding them.

Neontetras are not the easiest to breed...

Maybe you allready know how but if you are going to make them breed you have to have very soft water (1-2 dGH), ph around 5 and a teperature at 24 C. You allso have to remember to protect the eggs from light.

The eggs opens after about 24 hours..

Good luck. :)

There are a few good websites around about breeding neons.
I do know someone who did try for a few months.
But has given up now.
I thought I'll give it a go.
Never know may get lucky.

I think I have been very lucky!!!

Last night put the 2 neons in my 13 gallon tank and turn the light off and put a towel around the tank to keep out any light.

This morning around 10am had a look and I could see very small eggs on my ornaments.

Now I did not know if thay were neon eggs or snail eggs.
So I put the neons back in the main tank and put the towel back.

2 and half hours later i was watching my fish and see that the female neon was still dropping eggs.
With a male right beside her.
So put them back again.

I should of waited 24 hours or more.
Not just 14 hours.

I will leave them till the morning.
Before moving them back.

hi hope this helps i find it on a site i seen today cheers :D

I have read this before and I can't see any small kink.
Apart from the sizes.
Females are fat. males are small. :)

The female sort off got a kink.
But thats because she is fatter than the others.
