neon tetras colour

just wondering, my mum said that whenever they get chased they turn like a purple colour, but when they are alone in the corner in their little "group" they seem to go back to the normal blue colour

sometimes the opaline, sometimes the serpaes.

oh dear. how many neons are there? maybe they would feel more secure in a bigger flock? if you have room, of course.

However many I put in the end result ends with 3 neons, i currently have 4, i've added 24 neons in altogether (not at same time) and ended up with the same 3 that i had at the start

that's really rather worrying.
