Hi, I have just a 10G tank I recently planted and setup. At the moment, I've got a Blue Jay Tetra, some guppies and a small school of 5 black neon tetras. I've had my black neons a while and they've grown quite large (around 1.5") and since my LFS has neons about 1/3 of their size, is it a bad idea to mix them?

oh heck no they won't be fine together. not in a ten gallon!

and neons are fin nippers. your guppies would be in guppy hell :-(

My son has black neons, cardinals and glowlites in the same tank. We told the pet store we weren't sure if we would be expanding the tank yet, since we want to see how my son does with the fish first.

Are these fish going to get bigger?? They're in a 7 gallon now and everyone seems to be doing well so far. I was under the impression they wouldn't get much bigger, if at all.

Hi,

The tetras will grow 2 inches, the CAE 6+ inches and will get aggressive with age. That is one seriously over stocked tank considering the general guide is an inch of adult size fish per gallon. http://www.fishforums.net/index.php?showtopic=98998
