I'm pretty sure one of my neon tetras has neon tetra disease. His red stripe is faded and his body is bent. I already lost one to the disease and it looks like he's next. Are there any medications for neon tetra disease? He also seems to have trouble eating. I fed my fish frozen bloodworms and when they were all done I noticed he was sitting at the bottom with death at his feet...or tail. Then I realized he was choking on a bloodworm. It was still sticking out of his mouth and he couldn't breathe. So I got him in the net and gently pulled it out and he was fine. It happened again today. Has this happened to anyone else?

No, there is unfortunately no cure for neon tetra disease, if that's what it is. :/

I had a 5 gal tank once with 4 tetras.... one got the disease from PetSmart and killed all 3 of the other ones from Petco.... :(... it happens?

MY Silvertips sometimes take too much bloodworm. They sink to the bottom and chew on it for a while. None have died from that.

No NTD in the tank, though.

if a neon have neon tetra disease, remove him from the tank, and try to prevent it from infecting the other neons. There is nothing you can do for him. its just how it is..but life goes on.

if he is bent then it is not neon tetra disease

typical signs would be
like a white saddle over the top of the fish and that would rot the dorsal fin off

no guarenteed cure is known but best results by using Waterlife protozin

no point in moving the fish brecause they would be infected anyway :byebye:

Buy cardinal tetras.
Why? Are they better? I don't know much about them because we don't sell them.
I read once that they aren't affected by the disease... I don't know for sure.

If it's not neon tetra disease then what is it? I read this on another post so that's what I thought it was: "Symptoms include a bent spine, sluggishness, & losing colouration in certain patches or generally, & sometimes difficulty swimming, + they can get cysts/ulcers, too. "
