I have just noticed that one of my 7 neon tetras has an eye missing. he seems to be swimming still if a bit slanted and eating but doesnt looked as bright as the others.

I also have in the tank 3 clown loaches, 2 cardinal tetras, 3 mollies and a sucker fish. All have got on fine, sometimes the neons chase each other but never too aggressive.

Should I let nature take its course or would I need to quarantine him? :( poor neon

Thanks in advance

Are the neons a recent addition to your fish tank? Or have you had them for a while?

I occasionally see fish in shops with eyes missing, I just thought it was one of those things.

Theyve been in there for 5months or so, and only noticed today that it has an empty eye socket so muct have happened recently/overnight. maybe it is one of those things and I'll monitor him closely. I just gave them a feed and he managed to find a few bits but swam in circles a bit before, but i guess thts to be expected

Thanks

He will probably be okay, I had a swordtail with one eye missing. His name was Pirate. It looked like he had an eye patch :D

ahhh, yes mine does look a bit like a pirate bless him, his name was flash but it might have to be changed to jack sparrow now lol

Thanks for puttin my mind at rest :)
