neon caves from walmart

well i finally found a cave for my betta. i got it at walmart and i see alot of people have it here. it is one of those neon ones
neon cave kinda like this one but smaller
well anymway the paint seems to be comming off and making the water very foggy. what should i do about it maybe coat it with somthing? is anyone else having the same problem?

I've never had a problem with the paint chipping or peeling. I have 3 of those caves in 3 of my betta tanks. I dont think you should coat it with anything, that may be more harm than good IMO.

well i just did a full water change since i couldent see thew the water and it looks like he has achemical burn from the paint chemicals on his fins

Take it back and try another, i once had some gravel from walmart where all the paint was coming off and little paint flakes were floating allover my tank. I'd take it back and try another one, and hope that one stays together

the gravel from walmart made my fish sick so i never used their stuff

well i am gonig to let it soak in some water and if it continues to come off then i am going to complain cause my little boy loved goin to sleep at the bottom of it ;( but now poor little boy has tail rot from it. i went to the lps and got some meds for the poor thing and hopefully he will get better.

Return it. If you really wanted to try and fix it, you could always cover it in silicone.

If you dislike the results of adding it to your tank, just put in a little bit more money and get another type of cave. That is, of course, provided you don't really like the colors.

i think i am gonig to take it back to the store and if they give me a new one i am gonig to coat that one in silacone. hows that sound?
