I didn't expect this thread to turn into a slanging match and feel we have gone more than a little off topic.

I hope you are not insinuating that my tank is a cess pool.

I have good filtration, perform large regular water changes and also check the water stats weekly and have had no ammonia, nitrite or nitrate problems.

Anyway, if anybody is actually inteested in the crux of the matter, I have decided not to add dither fish and will endeavour to get hold of some more shells.

I have an LFS, who give a decent amount of store credit so I will be able to sell on some sub-adults if the fish spawn again. That way it should never get too crowded as far as territory goes.

Cheers, Andy.

Nonsense removed - back to the topic please.

 certainly not and I humbly apologize if it seems so!!!
what I meant and we all know, is how easy a ten gallon can go topsy turvey in an instant and what a risk to keep a breeding group/colony in possible harms way.
even with the best of habits ten gallon tanks can and do go belly up.
(knocking on wood now that I've put bad tank vibes out there in the universe  )

Well I'm glad I left the tank as it was. I have noticed a decent number of fry over the last 24 hours. I'm pretty sure they are from two different spawns as they are in dfifferent areas of the tank and some seem more developed than others.

I have spotted 5 for sure but expect there are a good few more hiding away.

As far as feeding goes, I am continuing to feed crushed up Tetra Prima and Spirulina tablets as I do for the adults. I've just upped the dose from once a day to two slightly smaller portions per day.

Does this seem about the right thing to do?

Any advice very welcome. I will try to take some pictures or even a video later this week and post it on here.

Meanwhile, here is the best pic I have so far of the dominant male:
