Yeah would be great if somebody could tell me exactly what I have as I had planned on getting a new tank which was 70g my current filter is rated at 530 gph

Is it either P. pardalis as above of P. disjunctivus, the only way to tell is to look at the pattern on the belly.

Spots = pardalis
Wormlike = disjunctivus

A 70g is ok for either.

One thing I will comment on is his coloration, it's grey in places and I have seen in another post this could mean he is stressed, is this likely ? Do I need more hiding places for him ?

Do you have a photo of the tank?

But generally yes, the more hiding places the better.

I wouldn't be overly concerned about the colour though.

I think more hiding places, because of the size of him he hasnt got much to hide in or behind.

You can try a 20" PVC pipe for a hiding spot; glue anubias/java fern to disguise it.

Can you give us a pic of his mouth?

Add wood, it had nearly no cover other than where is it is now.
