I have used a cable tidy for like, ever and always had the heater/thermostat in one and wired it in fine

Now I am using a junior hydor that has no thermostat and inside, where the heater should in the cable tidy there are 4 inputs (X Blue, X Brown, Brown and Blue Y)

I have the wires in Brown and Blue Y because it says

'X and Y for combined H/Stat and Slik Stat'

I don't even know what a Slik Stat is!!

But the heater won't work in Brown and Blue Y, does anyone feel confident enough to know what the heck I'm on about and what I've done wrong?
Thanks in advance

Here's a pic, am looking to find out which of the 4 inputs I use for a heater without a thermostat please (I dunno what the gubbins is on the item, bought it off Ebay)

If you are using an external thermostat and the new heater you have has no internal thermostat. then your new mains heater should be wired on the right heater blue wire to 'Blue Y' and heater brown wire to 'Brown'. The external thermostat would then be wired blue to 'X Blue' and brown to 'X Brown'

If your new heater does indeed have an internal thermostat, then the simplest thing for you to do is connect the heater blue wire to 'Blue Y' and the heater brown wire to 'X Brown' thus permenantly connecting it to mains (it will be on all the time, regulating itself). I suspect this is the case for your new heater.

Easy, no?
