I have an either 29/30 gallon tall tank that is 24" across. So naturally I got a 24" hood with a light and I paid about 40 dollars for it..the problem is it has to be placed JUST right to fit and instead of returning it like I probably should have I kept it..but any time my one year old son hits the tank with something or if it gets bumped..it falls in. Which scares me and I'm sure stresses the fish, not to mention when the light is on it could potentially electrocute them (and myself when I go to grab it out). I've thought about superglueing plexiglass or something to the edges where the hood sits to give it more of a lip for the hood to sit on. But I feel like superglue is probably not a great idea..does anyone have any suggestions? Or should I just suck it up and buy a new hood? I'm worried however that other 24" hoods will not fit either. I have snails so I feel that the hood is necessary.

I know some people use the corrugated plastic used for greenhouses. That might work?
