i have pleco's and a 17" salmontail catfish and also a couple of other catfishes, but these ALL hate the light besides the salmontail, i need to know witch ones you guys have and witch would go ok with a oscar as my salontail doesnt get along with.
Any ?

I really can't think of any catfish who like light very much. Most, if not all, species usually hang out on river bottoms and caves where there is the least sunlight.

Perhaps someone else knows of one who is more tolerant. Good luck!

What about a Hoplo / Armoured Catfish... They are ok in the light, but not sure if he would become dinner, they only get to about 6 inches.

Mine is out all day looking for food and rooting around in the substrate.

You can try some of the Synodontis family, I believe most of them are active during the day. We have A Featherfin Cat (Synodontis eupterus) in our Cichlid tank and she is out and about throughout the day. The grow to about 7-8 inches so may suit your requirements

Sorry to contradict you Puffer pack but most synodontis species hate light with a passion, the eupterus is the only one i can think of that is diurnal.

If you want a large daylight active catfish then go for one of the larger pimeloids like Sorubim lima, Pimelodus albofasciatus or Pimelodus ornatus, all of these will happily cruise the tank in daylight and are too big for a oscar to eat.

A name for your salmontail catfish (or whichever one is active in the daytime):

"The Daywalker" - taken from the movie "Blade" (Blade was a vampire/human hybrid who could walk in the daylight without being affected by sunlight - hence, he was known to the vampire community as The Daywalker)
