Need Some Help

well...one of the little angles has died...the other one looks ike its on its way out the door too.. idk wha happened. :/

Do not touch your Ph!!! You said it yourself, if your fish are raised locally, then they'll do just fine. Fluctuating Ph with chemicals like what you are trying to do is going to wipe out all the fish in the tank in no time. I am surprised they are not dead yet after a 7.8 to 6.6. The best thing is a stable Ph. If you really want a low Ph, don't use chemicals, use peat in the filter, dry almond leaves, dfriftwood, etc.. The fish "floating" at the surface has hardly anything to do with the high Ph. They are probably sick or poisoned by something. What do you mean by changing your filter? If you are putting new filter sponges/cartridges then you are technically uncycling your tank causing ammonia/nitrite poisoning of the fish?

Can you test for ammonia and nitrite in order to rule this out as a possible reason for the deaths?

I used Ph down solution by API. Two drops for every gallon. I have a 75 gallon tanks so I did 150 drops. Waited about a hour or so and checked the level agin and it came down to 7.8. so I added another 75 drops which lowered it to currently 6.8. Oh I didnt know that...
Sorry, you moved too fast for me! I need to learn to spit it all out at once. I was going to ask how you planned on lowering it. I appologize for not being more clear. Please forgive me.

snazy is right, if you are changing out certain parts of your filter (ie the sponge part or biomedia) it also removes the beneficial bacteria which is like starting over with a new tank and causes ammonia to spike.

well..the two little angle fish have died...so its w/e now..my tank was set up perfect. I think they where just sick fish. All my other fish are fine now and acting normal. Ph is back to its normal regular highness lol all other readings in the tank are at normal levels. havent changed my filters but I do have new ones so when I do a big water change I will change them then. everything is clear and running well. Took my dead angle fish back to the store and got a store credit and a red flame gourami. All is well now. Thank ya'll for all the help and advice.

How did you acclimate the fish before adding them to the tank. Also, do not change your filters!!!! The filter sponges need just rinsing in tank water(not tap water as it will kill the bacteria), and you can do this once a month or two depending on how quickly your tank gets dirty. They last for years. The moment you change your sponges, then the tank will no longer cycle the poisonous ammonia the fish produce and it will kill them.

Do you have ammonia and nitrite test?

Just to add, you said you use Tetra Easy balance Plus.

This EATS oxygen from the water, I lost a lot of guppies and a BNplec from this stuff.
This stuff also stabilises your water at a high pH and raises the hardness.

I would recommend slowly weaning the tank off this stuff if you can. With low O2 symptoms and use of this, I thinkw e may have found the culprit. Up the surface agitation, make sure your airstone is on full tilt (without annoying the fish, don't know angel fish but some other fish get terrified by a fast flowing airstone).

Wow!

If you look on the instructions it says

Instructions:
This product should not be used in aquariums with low oxygen conditions, proper aeration using an airstone is strongly recommended.

This is because it absorbs some of the oxygen, I'm not sure which bit of it does it...
