How about a female betta community....too risky? 3 in a 5 gallon...lotsa plants and places to hide?

I have four in a 10, they do fight sometimes, but nothing bad. I really think it depends on the fish though. I have one female that was in the 10 and had to be removed because she was such a brat. I think you'd be fine with lots of hiding places, but watch out for the really aggressive ones, it took me a few tries to find the right mix. :)

I just bought 2 for a 10g today. One seems to be chasing the other a bit, but the tank needs to be planted more.

Just trying to decide whether to put the 3 cuties( ) I got today together or not....got a really good deal on a 5 gallon...(told them it was smaller than a 5 and they believed me :p ;) ) 4 silk plants, sand...and I have TONS of rocks already...I will wait to see if anyone else replies in the next while before I do it. :shifty:

Sounds good to me. As long as they aren't the 'giant-type' females. :)

Are you gonna use the palmfilter?

They are small...two twins, goldish greenish-something ( ) and a wee red one....so CUTE!

Anyway. Yeah, I think I am going to use the filter. Better for them. :D

errr, 2 isn't a good #. She will literally chase the other one to death :( You need more to spread out the aggression :/

Personally, I say no,no,no to female tanks. I know some people can make it work but somebody in the tank is going to be picked on,eventually. If you can find sibling sister's, this could be a different story.Only my opinion though :*)

You might even want more than 3 to increase the chances against one specific one getting bullied. I have 5 in a planted 5.5 gallon tank. A few torn fins now and then... otherwise no problem.

Well, I am going to try it...I have more tanks to move them into if anything "bayid" happens. I hope it works though.

Thank you very much for your help! :D

Not to hijack, but...

If I put in other fish(non-bettas) will this cut down aggression? :dunno:

Wuv, the ones I bought were in a tank with about 4 other juvies and 1 adult (mine are juvies 1-1.5"), do you think that would work? :dunno:

now you got me thinking I should start playing musical tanks. :S

Maybe, like cories or something?

If you're going to go for an all gir tank, I'd go grab the other 4 ASAP, not the big one though. 10 gallons seems big enough and if you put lots of crevices and plants you may get lucky.

About 3 cories for sure.

I also have some fish in other tanks I thought of moving, they are:

1 copperfire dwarf gourami (1.5")
2 silver hatchets (1.5" each)
1 apisto (2.5")

Well. They are in together.

They definitely DO NOT like each other....flare flare, butt butt. :flex:

Just going to keep a close eye on them...hopefully they will settle in a bit. :/

If not, I think the cute little red one will be getting the 5'er all to herself...she is the feisty one. Go figure...redheads.

Well. That lasted long....

I post the last post...go back to the tank...and the twins are mouth-locked at the bottom of the tank.

Remind me to always listen to what I am told. Especially from wuv.

Guess the red DOES get the tank to herself after all. :hyper:

i got 3 females in a 25G tank with only 3 plants in it and a few other fish and they do wel :)
