Need More Lighting?

Hiya, just wondering if I need to add another bulb to my tank.

I currently have a single 38w 42" tube to light my 4ft tank. I sometimes wonder if I could do with another tube as it doesn't seem as bright as other tanks I've seen.

Thoughts???

Adding more light would really be a personal thing. If you have live plants although it would be benificial for them. There was a good debate recently about fish needing light. What I got out of this debate was that the ambient light that most tanks get is sufficiant enough for the fishes health, any more tha that is for veiwing pleasure by the aquarist.

Also increased light can encourage algae growth and be a cause of green water.
