Hello I have a female peacock cichlid and I can't tell but it kind of looks like a white speck is on her body. My water is good its cycled has a great filter and heater I don't over feed them and do water changes every week. I use prime every time I do a water change and have my water tested every week so I'm not sure what this speck is. It doesn't seem to be spreading. Any help would be appreciated. Also my male peacock has been trying to get her to mate but she is being a stubborn brat. He keeps moving stones and making a good little spot for them and he's flaring up around her and shaking and I've seen him try to do that little mateing dance with her but she just runs away and keeps teasing him. Do you guys have any help with any of that. I have good open spots and good hidden spots for them so I don't know. I will also get medication for the speck if I have to but if its not the ich I don't want to medicate them for no reason. I'll send pictures and if I have to get better ones I will. And there is a picture of my other little guy there to

Hopefully someone will come on who knows more about cichlids. The spots appear to be in the fin so either just pigmentation or bacterial issue. Definitely not ich. I would watch for now. Anyone else able to help with breeding?

Hi and welcome to the forum :)

Can you post a picture of the fish you have concerns with and tell us where to look for the mark/ spot?

Check your water quality for ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, pH and GH and post the results (in numbers) here.

Do a 75% water change and gravel clean the substrate every day for a week or until the problem is identified. Make sure any new water is free of chlorine/ chloramine before it's added to the tank.

What are you feeding the fish?
How often are you feeding them?
What is the 3rd fish?

Thank you for the response. I woke up this morning and the females white spot was gone . I was just so nervous it was possible something contagious and didn't know what to do so was reaching out to people with more experience. The third fish is a electric blue jack Dempsey. I was worried that because he's so small and from a different continent he would be bullied to death but the peacocks don't bother him at all and it's been over 3 weeks. I seen the peacocks doing the mateing dance and she trys to bite his fine with the egg spots but she doesn't look like she's holding. She eats and yawns all the time so I don't think she is :( . Do you think she's just not matured enough. I also got a on peacock and asked them to send a male but I think it's a female could you look at the pictures and see what you think. The fine look really rounded and just looks overall like a female. Don't think I'll order online anymore spent 40$ after shipping to get a dull looking fish. I feed the chiclid pellets once a day sometimes two. Sorry my camera sucks and my tank is Crystal clear but camera makes it look cloudy.

I'm not the best video taker but tried my best. I really feel like it's a female and I'm not sure if the company that shipped my fish fed them something different or something because I've tried feeding it little chiclid pellets and blood worms but she keeps spiting them out. Every time it spits them out it trys to eat it again right away but just spits it back out. Could it have something wrong with it. Also it's gills look a little red and it was like that when I received it yesterday so I'm not sure if the breeders were taking bad care of her/he or not or if they were like screw it lets just give him it anyways. And do you think it will get better color or is that basically what I'm stuck with. Do you think there's even a little chance it could be a male?
