people i need help with my new 15 gallon, there is,
1, 3 inch glass knife,
2, clown loaches,
3 guppies,
1 simple kili fish,
4 of these tail light tetras, or whatever (i dont exactly know the name)
and one zebra botia...
the tank has been cycled for one week with live plants, a filter from another tank, (already cycled)
gravel from the previous setup (already cycled)
plenty of hiding places, not over stocked... lots of real plants.... dimish lighting...
nitrite levels like, .1...
anybody know what killed a 2 guppys, a clown loach, and a zebra botia? i have a suspition that the clown and botia may have jumped out but im not sure....

:byebye: please help!!! i dont want any more fishys to die

Not overstocked? How did you work that out? Clown loaches get waaay too big for that tank, not sure what a glass knife is but knife fish get too big and glass tetras are schooling, nitrite should always be at 0.... I'd guess nitrite spike.

over stalked? i thought it was 1 inch per gallon... isent it? each fish was about half an inch to about 1 and a half inches... besides the knife, and they arent glass tetras... so i still dont know whats going on..... :dunno:

all i know about the ammonia level is that its very low dont have an exact number...

The ammonia and nitrite readings should always be 0, any ammount of either of these compounds will harm your fish and Botia species are particularly sensative to these poisons.

Nope, 1 inch of ADULT fish per gallon, and thats only a guideline. I'd suggest doing water changes every day or so until you can either get a much bigger tank or take some of the fish back to where you bought them from.... and also try and work out what the 'glass knife' is.

i think im gonna take all of the fish back... maybe it wasnt a very healthy shipment.... :dunno: then im gonna go to a differnet pet store that i usually go to....

No, you're going to so some research before you even think about buying any more fish. It wasn't a bad shipment, it was the conditions of your tank.

then whats wrong with my tank? no one has givin me a complete answer yet so i can fix it.... ive done all of my other tanks and i have never had this many fish die in 2 days... bareley they ever die...

Too many fish too soon is the major problem here which has resulted in dangerous nitrite and probably ammonia concentrations in the water which when combined with fish which are sensative to nitrogen compounds has resulted in deaths.

Well :dunno: What do you expect? Blaming poor fishkeeping on a bad shipment is just plain stupid.
