Need help with my Betta tank!

I just got myself a Betta for my 5 gallon tank. One problem though, the back panel of the tank is reflective, and I think the Betta is convinced that there's another male in there with him as he keeps trying to get at his reflection. Will this stress out the fish, and is there anything suitable for 'blacking out' this back panel?

Any advice would be appreciated!

It really depends on your betta...some figure it out after a day or so and stop flaring...others don't. lol If he does it constantly after a few days, then I'd say it'll stress him out. If he does it once in awhile, it should be fine.

You could use a dull blue background to offset the reflection. And judging by your picture, you could use a few more burgers.

As dixaisy930 says, it depends on your betta... there are intelligent betta's and there are 'not so' intelligent betta's.
I recently bought a new betta a couple of months ago 'Asaba'... he's as thick as a plank (one of the reasons i love him ), it took him a good few weeks to understand he was flaring at himself.
Yours will soon be darting backwards and forwards in his element

It could also just be his aggression...I have a solid red one who's been with me for almost a year and he STILL flares at his reflection like that, I just leave hislight off most of the time because that seems to calm him down.

I'd also take that as a sign that he should remain alone, if you try adding more fish ,yipes, he might let all that aggression out

He seems to be calming down a bit now, lets just hope he has some sort of intelligence to work it out . I'll give it a couple of days for him to settle a bit more before I start getting worried about it!

Thats what spending all your money on these fish does to you, not enough cash for anything else
