Plants don't care what colour temp they are under, this is another misconception that's been marketed very well by bulb makers. Lets put 'plant grow' on a bulb and charge an extra £10...a plants doesn't have to be under a specific kelvin. Kelvin is only what our eyes perceive. I'm currently running 2x 9000k over my tank, and this for me is a crisp as i have had my tank. Its not in the blue, it's white looking. Anything around 4000-6000k are going to look pink to yellow. I wouldn't go any higher than 9000k per bulb however. You are staring to go blue marine bulbs @ about 12000k.
If you want a really crisp looking tank, then 2x 9000k, and you can't go wrong.
