We have now sorted out our tank and my neon tetras are hiding away alot, i have 4 mollys 7 tiger barbs and 7 tetras also a red tailed shark and 3 bristle plecs. we did have 10 tetras but they seem to be dropping off. i want to rehouse my neon tetras but would like to replace them with a more hardy fish as the tigers seem to be bullys. does anyone have any tips on what i could add o my tank 3ft by 1ft by 1.5ft approx 20 galon/85 litres

That comes to 120 litres for me (about 30 gallons), can you check the dimensions? 3*1*1 ft comes to 20 gal/85 litres.

Tiger barbs and red tailed black sharks are quite aggressive, so probably bothering the neons quite a lot, which is why the neons would be hiding.

Assuming your calculations are right, this is how I would work with your stock:
* 1m 3f mollies
* 15 tiger barbs
* 1 shark
* 1m 2f bristlenoses
* pair of kribs

But if this was my tank, I would do the following:
* 1m 3f mollies
* 20 neons
* 1m 2f bristlenoses
* 1m 2f Apisto. cacatuoides

..but that's mainly because I don't like sharks as they're a lot of pain and the don't like stocking around barbs.

Hi
I am a newbie to the site and also to 7 molly fry, And really could do with some advice please! These fry were spotted yesterday morning when they were noticed they were put into a plastic breeding box within the tank. They all seem to be doing well but i would like to put them into a seperate tank until they are big enough to Join the adults in the big tank.

What advice could you please give me? Will they die if i move them etc

Thanks

Mollys

well im going for an experiment, ive sectiond the tetras for now and my barbs are running the tank so im gonna add around 4-5 convicts and see how it goes :shifty:

Convicts are very aggressive fishes and may eat your barbs if the barbs are small enough to swallow. Will certain eat your tetras. They breed very readily as well and people usually struggle to rehome the fries because there are so many out there.

+1, don't get convicts. But if you really want one, then...
* 1m 3f mollies
* 15 tiger barbs
* 1 shark
* 1m 2f bristlenoses
* 1 single baby convict, knowing you will never again be able to add young (small) fish to that tank

And this is only a maybe, might work.. no guarantees anywhere.

you must be a nutter to add convicts! expect mega problems (sorry but i can't think of anything worse to add)
