I have another tank 60ltr 2ft fluval which i use in an emergency

see my website for pics http://www.myspace.com/mbuna_tank (if you can tell if they are males or females then leave a comment on my website)

so info on what fish to start with, tank size, filter's, pipe work ect to get me started.
the room is going to take some time but im in no rush i will buy bits every month whilst i knock the wall out and going to tile the floor and build the units any designs of units which are easy to build would be great.

the fish room is gonna be coverted from the down stairs toilet and out building shed fixed to the house the wall from toilet side will be knocked through to out shed. with the toilet being taking out leaves me with the water supply and stop tap for that toilet,so got a water supply if that will help.I hope someone can help and advise me and get me going on the right track, even if you have some pics to give me ideas would be great.
cheers for your help i think i have mentioned what i need help with but plz feel free to add to my project.

what size tanks would be best for breeding mubuna in forgot to add that i hope someone can take the time to help me here cheers.

Hey mate.

There's a few members threads you could look up for ideas, tips. Arachnidzone, CFC, BigC, Tolak are a few of the names. They do run or have run Fish Houses in the past and know what's what :good: I'm fitting out my own fish house out at the moment and I have been helped a lot by these guys amongst others.

For pipework and other bits and bobs, try here..
http://www.fishfurfeather.com/ I'm about to order some stuff myself, pressure pipe, etc. They have a good range of piping and the price seems cheap.

What's the area of the room, when the wall is knocked through? The 4 footers in the centre area, are you planning to have them back to back, one atop of the other, side by side? Will there be fry tanks lining the walls?

Just trying to get a better picture of what the room will look like. I can't really help you myself as I'm just starting out on a bigger scale myself, but I think these questions may help the other guys to help you :D

thanks for the reply the room once knocked through will be 10feet long by 5ft wide would prefer them side by side but im sure if i dont rush the frame work i could go 2 high. Im not sure what tank sizes i will need i hope that someone will help me here.also i was wondering i can get tons of polystrine squares from work for nothing would this be a good insulation to cover the walls and ceiling with.

Polystyrene is a pretty poor insulation, its certainly better than nothing but compared to modern materials its way behind, you'll certainly be needing a few of them to put under the tanks though.

theres me thinking that would do the job damn and its free as well anyway i gonna go back to were i brought my big tank from i think as dont know if anywhere cheaper than this here's the list and prices of what they do WHALF AQUATICS and its done brillantly they did my custom tank and cabinet all from scratch,so what you guys reckon i should have sizes and how many of ect ect, would like one 4ft tank in middle to store the mubuna till they breed then move the mother to a smaller tank till she drops and then have fry tanks am i on the right track reagrding tanks, sorry if im going on but want to make sure i do it right the first time and have a clear understanding of it all.

I'm in the process of working out the details of a fish shed and have found a company on ebay that makes and delivers tanks.
The only problem is that the delivery charge is £50.00 BUT if you order 1 or 100 tanks the charge is still the same :good:
I've worked out the prices that I've been quoted from my local shop and the ebay companys price is less than half price and that includes the delivery charge.
This list may change but I will probably order ....

Nine........ 18 X 12 X 12....@... £7.50ea
Six.......... 24 X 15 X 12....@.... £15.50ea
Three........30 X 15 X 12....@.... £21.90ea
Three........36 X 15 X 12....@.... £25.50ea
One..........36 X 18 X 18....@.... £47.64ea
One..........48 X 18 X 18....@.... £59.80ea

Including delivery this lot comes to £482.04, which I thought wasnt too bad a price.

recommendations for an undertank insulating material then? Open cell foam would probably work well, but you run into the problem of water absorbsion, as well as degrading over time. Some type of closed cell?

Polystyrene is fine for putting under tanks, its job there is not to insulate but to even out any bumps in the stand and prevent vibrations passing through the stand to the glass. What is being discussed is insualting the walls of a fish room where conserving heat and keeping the ambiant temperature of the room as stable as possible.

just had a look at the site not bad is it, only thing that confuses me which might sound stupid but some say like 36x18 highx15 fish tank, 6mm glass, 8 tanks £271 or is it for one tank but got 8 for sale?

now my question what size tanks should i get for breeding mubuna i will get them off that site so if someone can help me with it that be good bear in mind i have ony got 10 feet long wall to play with and room for one 4ft long tank against my 5ft wide wall?
