Tilapia Mariae - nice fish not often seen but can be pretty nasty. They are from Africa but are found in the Americas due to farming and some escaping and becoming invasive.

I have been offered it by a friend who has it in a 2ft tank, tbh I don't really want it considering its track record but since I have an empty tank, should I take it on?

How big do they grow roughly?

They can hit 15 inches but usually stay around 8 inches - you could set up a nice larger African fish tank with things like Bichirs and large African Tetras, not 100% on this but perhaps African Pikes could fit in with these but not 100% on that and I would advise asking in the oddballs and predatory section on here and perhaps if that turns up nothing 100% asking on a specialist predatory forum would be good.
