Need Advice On Temp To Treat Ich

A update on my tank. I went and got another tank for quarantine. I bought some antibiotics as well. Already the shark with the streaks looks better. My other shark just died as I was typing this. He probably couldn't handle the temp or the ick cure. So now I have left from the 90 1 neon tetra, 2 clowns, 4 danios, and a cory cat. Hopefully by removing all the fish, cranking up the heater all the way, and a good water change I can put a end to the ich. Is there anything I can do to the tank now that I couldn't before with fish in the tank to kill everything bad? My roommate thinks the off white stuff growing on the silicone and the fake plants has something to do with things. I thought it might just be the good bacteria or maybe algae? I don't know. Do you know of any website that has photos of various fish diseases and desciptions? I would like to better educate myself to hopefully catch obvious problems sooner and be able to properly treat things quicker. I am going to do a large water change and clean the plastic and rubber stuff up some. The white stuff on the plants when I netted up the fish got knocked free and now theres white junk floating around the tank. thanks for all your help and suggestions. What do you think of mega dosing the 90 with salt to kill off everything now that I put all the fish in a diffrent tank?

I lost the sharks, neons, and a clown since yesterday in the hospital tank. I also lost a khuli in the 29 gallon. The clown didn't look sick before I left for work he was eating this morning. The cory cat hasn't eaten since he was taken out of the 90 he seems to have red splotches on him. Maybe he always did I don't know he is a lot easier to see in the 10 gallon. I don't care much for the antibiotics I am using they turned the tank yellow and now there is foam coming out of the tank. Thats after only 2 doses I think if I continue with the remaining 3 doses it going to be all over the floor. Should I do a water change or will that just remove all the antibiotics and defeat the purpose? One of my buddies feels bad and wants to give me some fish and I told him sure if you don't mind them dying in a week I don't want any more fish till I figure this out. Maybe I contaminated the 90 putting my arm in there placing plants and cleaning the gravel. I am really bothered that I cant make it a day without something dying. I know the hospital tank is new and uncycled but that shouldn't have anything to do with it after less than 48 hours. I think I will drain the 90 down some and remove the gravel and boil it to make sure nothing good or bad is living in it. I would still like to know what the white stuff is growing on the silicone and the fake plant. I am surprised the plants are not dead from all the ich cure and salt in there. any suggestions on how to sterilize the 90 so I know nothing viral, bacterial, or fungal is still in there?

i cant say on here what i think of idiots like you but reading this kind of abuse to fish drives me on to make my fish a success. if you looked in your tank once in a while instead of looking at your pc monitor for hours you might see problems developing. and if you got off your arse and did regular water changes they wouldn't get so sick you wanton murderer

Tell me you're joking. How is this helpful?

I am down to 4 danios and a cory. I thought of something yesterday. When I first started the 29 I put my filter and slate in the dishwasher because it wasn't used for about 10 years. I don't remember if there was soap in it or not. I had a lot going on the day I first started it back up. I am not going to put the piece of slate back in the 90 im afraid it has something to do with all the deaths. I am going to wait till monday to clean out the 90 because I need new cartriges for my filter. I don't want to take any chances. As for you gnu you are not helping. The only thing other than that I can say is some of us have a life outside of the house and away from the fish tanks. I also don't spend hours on the computer I wish I had that luxury. So grow up. I have to leave for work. Thanks for the help peeps

Tell me you're joking. you must be joking! no i'm not joking!
and as for you, clutchxr. you ask me if i have a life outside of home and fishkeeping? how long does it take to do a water change, ten minutes. i read your posts and i dont like how you described how you "threw some danios into the tank to get it cycled" just shows how much you value their lives.
i'll give you some advice. dont buy blue rams!

I didn't come here to be bashed. I came here to find out what I did or didn't do to kill off most of my fish. I don't think my problems had to do with water changes. As far as I knew the tank was running fine. I thought it was cycled. I put the danios in there once I thought the tank was settled. The gravel and filter came from established tanks. I checked the ph, nitrates, nitrites, and ammonia everything still showed up fine even when I resorted to removing the fish to the 10 gallon. Maybe the test kit I bought was junk. I haven't had a problem with the 29. For water changes I have at least done 25% weekly or more. Maybe my fish had something other than ich? Seemed to kill everything off way too quick. I had oscars back in the early 90's one of them had ich and it survived treatment.

Thats enoughf now! :/
