After talking it over with my parents, I've decided to take a shot at spawning the pair I'm getting from Erica (splashluff). :D

It'll be a while before I even consider beginning to condition them, etc... I want to make sure I'm 150% prepared before spawning them.

So, for those of you with spawning experience, here's where you come in. ;)

I'd absolutely LOVE it if you'd post a list of all the equiptment you need for a successful spawn; things that have worked for you in the past. (Spawning Tank size, Temperatures, Food for the fry, Methods, etc.) I want to make sure that both the parents and their babies are safe throughout the whole process. Thanks so much, and I really appreciate it!

OMG NO WAYY! OMGzzz! :hyper: I'm so excited for you!

Ok, you know I will answer whatever questions you have. I went though a lot of trial and error with my spawn, so I pretty much know what is the best equipment to use and what should not be used, the best way to do WC's, etc. Please PM me or e-mail me if you have any questions! This was my spawn set-up, worked like a charm ;)

-10 gallon glass tank w/out hood
-half filled with aged dechlored water
-half of large Indian Almond Leaf in water, taped to the side. (treats water and anchor for bubblenest)
-big bunch of Java Ferns (like, 7 or 8 medium size plants)
-small breeding trap w/ lid for female
-50w heater turned to 82*
-PennPlax corner filter, turned on after babies are free-swimming and Dad is out
-Seran wrap, should cover 90% of the top for at least the first month, and should be used during spawning. It keeps the air in the tank humid.

As for food, the best stuff is Microworms! Baby brine shrimp can also be bought at Petsmart and a really simple hatchery can be made (I believe that's in the FAQ's too). For dry food, Atison's Betta Starter is good, but should be fed in accordinance with the live foods.

Thanks SO much Erica. :D I'm real excited. I'll be sure to turn to you if I need any help. Think.. this summer, Maui and Kula are going to be grandparents... :/

LOL, yay! :hey: Actually, they're already grandparents! My friend Christine spawned a solid green boy with a green and blue marble girl a couple weeks ago... still, that's awesome!
