I have a JBL e1500 filter. Unlike my Eheim it does not have a detachable hose connection, to allow me to walk away with the filter without needing to drain the hoses.

I have limited space and the Eheim double-taps look too large. Anyone got pointers to smaller editions?

if you cant find anything suitable thats either specific to that filter or even specificly for aquarium use maybe you could take a bit of the hose into a plumb centre and see if you can rig something up with an isolation valve like so http://www.tradingde...%20Valve%2015mm you can get em in all manner of sizes/design/fittings so maybe you could work something

I like your idea Mark but please avoid those brass fittings. A nice PVC valve is inert and will not poison your fish or inverts. Brass is composed of copper and zinc so it is a poor choice for continuous water contact in an aquarium setting. Copper, even in small doses is fatal to inverts and can cause illness in fish too.
