I have a friend with a 6 gallon sw tank, we have not had any luck finding a small skimmer for it. We are hoping that we can make one, and would love to get a little help in doing so. Please share your ideas on how we should go about doing this.
Seeing you seem to be experienced with your saltwater stuff (your sig), a small skimmer for your nano tank may have to to made by yourselves as lfs's just don't expect you to start a small saltwater, as it is quite difficult. You might have to consult EddieW (A nano saltwater tank owner)
If in the UK you will have difficulty finding anything small. Pretty much limited to something like the Berlin Air-Lift type or Sander Piccolo if you want cheap - downside is that they are internal and you lose a lot of space. Externally you are probably going to have to go for something like a Prizm as most of the equipment is external.
If you are in the States you will have a much better selection of equipment, such as the Skilter range. Unfortunately I can't give you much info about them.
I do live in the States, but have not had much luck here. We had been talking about building one so that we get exacty what we wanted, we were hoping that you might have had some exp. in doing so. We will check out the Skilter range, we also want to put a chiller on it, he is getting 74F. at night, but in the day it has gotten up to 84F. So this has been another problem, and he doesnt want to put $100.00 into a chiller. Thankyou for the information.
