Nano Marine Tank

Thanks lljdma06 :)

Yea i thought peeps might be more interested in the pics than the whole diary so i just added them here, i was the same when i was into FW, i never bothered even looking in the marine section although i don't know why :dunno: even when i didn't keep them i liked their colours alot more :D

I look forward to reading about your future 30, i'm upgrading this into a 30 in a few months and will use this tank as the sump/refuge.

 If you're unlucky like me you probably will have something nasty :( I went in the room with a flashnight last night and saw a H-U-G-E bristle worm, he's thin though and doesn't come out in the day so i can cope with that :good:

I've posted a pic of the fireworm in marine chit chat, the title is Mantis shrimp! (Stupid me ) and just jump to page 3, nastly look thing

Macro is doing great it's a lot bigger than the last pic, i'll consider trimming it in a few weeks if it gets to bad, I'll send it all down the sump and let it grow like made when i do make the mood. I''' probably get soem star polps to cover the green part of tank along with future corals :D

Thanks
Da

No problem, I've really enjoyed reading the nano section, and I really feel that when I go SW, I'll be super-prepared because of you, Steelhealr, and others in the Nano section and the Marine section.

Now, I have a question for you. Is there such a thing as a 30 long? I found one tank that has the dimensions I like, long and shallow, but it is a 33g tank. What are the dimensions of the 30g you plan on upgrading to? The reason I'm asking is because I really can't afford Metal hallides and the more shallow the tank, the better chance I have for T5 power compacts, which I can afford, to penetrate the tank so I can grow some of the less demanding corals and some macro algae species. Does this make sense?

I apologize, but I thought I'd ask.

Warmest,

llj :)

By the way, you can update your title in your Mantis shrimp thread, all you have to do is a full edit in your original post and then change the title. Just thought I'd let you know. I would die if I got one of those worms!

Sorry about the slow reply, have been out all weekend so i haven't been able to check back :)

I'm not to sure what the measurement of a 30g long are tbh :S The tank i'm upgrading to is actually a 28g but i just rounded up to a 30. The measurement of my upgrade tank are 36"x12"x15" (LxWxH).

I Diffently understand you about the MH thing! The cost of lighting a reef are unbelieveable i think we are getting totally ripped off by the companies who produce them. (Probably only cost about £50 and they charge us £350 + just for enough light for a 30 :()

Power compacts can apparantly penetrate 12" of water so you'll need a shallow tank as you've said, you could probably use a 15" deep tank and keep corals higher up in the tank :)

Makes good sense to get a long tank  More surface area and swimming room for your fish, i think high tank like the 20high are about as useful as a 10gallon tank as they give the fish very little more room to swim but still people think because they have 20gallons they can happily cram 3 or 4 fish in :(

Cheers on the help with the mantis title i'll go an change it now :)

Dan
