Also, if your LFS does saltwater and they sell R/O water, they may also sell pre-mixed saltwater. For such a small tank, it would be worth it just to buy the pre-mixed water. That's what I do for my 10g even. Stay away from tap water, it's usually got a lot of phosphates which will lead to a BIG algae problem.

Oh, and before anyone asks, no, there are NO fish that can go in a .5 or 1 gallon

I'm not sure what kind of mushroom it is really, it was just sort of thrown in and no...the peppermint shrimp is in another nano tank, a 3 gallon.
