i am looking to convert a 40 litre tank into a nano reef setup, could anyone give me any tips on what filtration to use and do i need a skimmer? if so, any good small internal skimmers? or can i use just live rock with a power head, i'm planning to just have 2 tmc clowns and a few inverterbrates with plenty of soft corals and polyps

I personally wouldn't put 2 clowns in a 10 gallon...

anyway, you don't need a skimmer on something that small, just have 1 small fish and you'll be fine.

5 kilos of LR will be great for that size tank and you will need around 600 lph in poweheads (that's 15 times turnover)

o.k no skimmer thats fine but what kind of filter can i use

live rock and water circulation, you could maybe have a small internal filter filled with carbon or rowaphos. You could have 2 fish if you pick small, gobies are generally a good ones to look at as are some of the wrasse, along with your usualy clowns and damsels.
