Nandid Possibly Pristolepis Fasciatus

Exquisite fish! I've wanted to locate some of those for a long time because I think they'd go well in my 'oddball' Asian tank with my Belontia signata, Belontia hasselti and Anabas testudineus.

Beautiful colours on them, photos just don't do them justice and so easy to keep.

Well if you are ever in the Hampshire area, I have seven of them so I can spare two for someone who apprechiates them :good:

Unfortunately, the Hampshire area is a little out of my neighborhood. NEW Hampshire would be a bit closer but still too long a trip even for Pristolepis. I'll be looking for information about successful spawning from your fish.

I think they make really good aquarium subjects, all the personality of cichlids, but not quite as aggressive (yet).

The two largest frequently display by raising their dorsal spines , one has built numerous nursing pits around the tank, but as yet no female has shown an interest in them, but he keeps trying. I think they have a little more growing and maturing to do.

I am not certain of a max size for them, I am guessing about 6-7 inches, and the two largest are about 3.5inches, although very meaty build.

The colours improve with age and I noticed they have irredescent markings on double spined gill plates which intensify as they grow and the strips on the body also darken when displaying. Can't wait to see how they turn out.
