Naming Your Fish

i think naming fish makes you more inklined (sp) to care for them as you build up kinda of a relationship with the fish....catch my drift??? (but i don name tetras either)

it really started with the ADFs for me, named the first two Bubble n Squeek. Rather the girlfriend did.

seems that it does come down to the slightly larger or more individual fish that make it to the hall of name (sorry for the pun.)

oh and my old dog would respond to anything you called him, as long as it sounded like the word beach, or like a sweety wrapper opening.

my fish are as follows
platies - georgia , jack ,don, jean and alice
glass catfish - fiachra
redeye tetra - bossman
all the other tetras - the mongrel squad ( bossmans ppl)
plec - ronan
bronze cory - dave ( jus had 2 name 1 after me! )


i think it really adds more depth to the hobby!

A girl in work has a pet goldfish called Dave (the other one that was murdered by her dog (ANDY) was called "Chicken" - I kid you not. yes she is blonde) so I called my female dwarf gourami Lesley. There is also now a hamster called Lesley too.

All shrimpy looking things without pincers - shrimp duuuuude

All shrimpy looking things with pincers - Lobby

All crabs - crab duuuuuude

the gourami - cool duuude (hes a real show off)

tyre track eel - evil b*****d (he was evil)

all true dragon gobys get hurled abuse at, to the tune of "your ugly"
ok. my boyfriend had one, that I hated, and i called him all the names under the sun, until one day my boyfriend did a waterchange with the lid off and boom! He jumped out of the tank at me!!! he nearly hit me but missed and landed on the floor. So now all securely held ones i take it out on

albino birchir - heeeeeellooooooo!!!!! hes the only fish I have that is always out, always fun, and is always pleased to see me!

my ornate with no fins is called soldier i rescued him from a fish shop... I got him for free so glad i saved him, poor thing!!!

10 Bosemani Rainbow - leprachaun(sp) - think rainbow, pot of gold at the end of, leprachaun
4 Silver Dollar - p diddy - dollar, money, bling so name him after a rapper
1 Horse Face Loach - black beauty - it's a horse


i always go for tacky names, just do word association until you come up with a name

Well one of my friends asked me to name her zebra danio so I named it Kennith Anderson
