Okay, having said I would never get another kitten, I am!! Hubbies colleagues wife works for rescue centre and is trying to rehome kittens. We said we will take one and it turns out we are getting an all black female.

Our other cat is a ginger tom called taggart so we need a name that will go nicely with that but we are unimaginative and can't think of anything.

We aren't picking it up 'til Mon as we will be out a lot this weekend and we didn't want to leave it alone straightaway.

So, any ideas for names will be greatly appreciated and I will let you know which one we go with.

Thanx

how about Maryhill if it's a Queen or McVitie if it's a Tom
(the taggart tv serise was set at Maryhill cid and Jack
("The Biscuit") McVitie was a long running charature)

mcvitie is a great name. what about cracker? thats another crime series with a scot in it.

Thank you for all your suggestions.

I too wanted to continue with the Taggart theme and liked Mcvitie (even though we're getting a little girl)

Hubby, however, likes Lunar. I am not convinced so please keep the ideas coming!

Thank you everyone.

I like Biscuit. of course, my first thought before the revelation of the theme was "hey, Molly would sound pretty nice..." don't suppose that'd work, tho'!

McVitie is an excellent name!

I had a cat once call 'Murder' and that would fit nicely in with the Taggart theme.

Thanx for all the suggestions guys. We actually ventured away from the Taggart theme and had decided on Trinity.

Bad news though; the bigwigs at the rescue centre have said that we can't have the kitten as they don't rehome kittens in our area, there is a meeting to discuss it but we don't hold out much hope as apparently they are sick of having animals rehomed outwith their catchment area.

We don't see the problem, we are experienced cat owners with a safe home and willing to take it now (they need to go to homes so they can get their innoculations which are overdue). She would also get spayed in a few months if she came to us.

I am gutted, we had a picture of her and were really looking forward to it.

oh what a shame ! :-( especially as you had your heart set on her already and expecting her soon.

Thanx. We did try and convince them to at least come and do a homecheck but they're not interested. I have never heard anything like this before, we're being turned down for a stupid reason and now she has to wait for someone with the right postcode!!
My mum got a rescue cat from a centre much further away than this one is but that was in Surrey, maybe they're more sensible down there!!

Sorry for the rant but I can't help myself! I just hope she finds a good home with somebody who'll spoil her as much as I would have.

That sucks
I've heard of a postcode lottery for the NHS
but for re-homing animals, what a load of beurocratic BS :/

I am so sorry cheekeyarab that you didnt get your kitty  I have never heard of this stuff before. At least you all have something like that to go through. Here they arrested someone for tying up a horse and not feeding it or giving it enough room to have its colt. The rope was only four feet and the horse was trying to give birth and it strangled its self to death and lost its baby also. That was terrible I have cried over this horse for the last three days. I was thinking if they would treat animals like that here in the states we wouldnt have to read things like this in the paper...
