Mystery Fish

Almost looks like it, but the head is different. If he would hold still, I would try andd get a better pic. But the last one took me a half hour to get

lol when i got my first tank about two years ago it was second hand the previous owner said nothing was in it and when i cleaned it out in the filter i found a neon lol and under the gravel i found a yellow and black worm thing and later discovered it was a coolie loach lol. they both survived and are in my dads tank now lol

it looks like a pygmy cory to me.

When i saw the pic i thought it was a pygmy or an emperor tetra.

If it has barbels then i think it definatley looks like you have a pygmy.

yer it looks just like one of my pygmy cories, cept you cant see the fins properly- unless all pygmies are tetras?! :p

no, they're catfish. unless that was a joke, lol.

It does look like that as well. Is it always on the bottem of the tank? Or does it swim all over.

and does it have a flat bottem or roundish?

It usually swims all over the tank alongside the tetras, he is half their size. It has a roundish bottom, and today I noticed he has an iradescent stripe above the black one. :dunno: BTW my tank was brand new when I got it. There is no possible way my tetras had it right. (I mean could they have laid eggs, and this mutation popped out? :fun: I know stupid question, just tryin to figure out where the little thing came from and what to do for it to keep it healthy

What kind of tetras? They could have laid eggs and one survived, hatched, and grew up, and there it is.

They are neon tetras. Is it possible that's what he is?

Penguin Tetra? Not sure about the tail though...

Although they're fairly rare, could it be the African One-line tetra (Nannaethiops unitaeniatus)? They are mostly clear with a black line and have a very streamlined torpedo like body. Maybe he could have come in with an order of live plants (If you have any).
