If anybody knows wtf is going on, I would really appreciate your suggestions. Over the last few 4-6 weeks, I have had 4-5 fish die under mysterious circumstances....and I just looked in the tank, and found a neon tetra dead, with his stomach and eyes compleatly missing. Christ, this is really horrible. The tank is reading 0 Ammonia, 0 NitrIte, and around 5-10 NitrAte. The tank has been set up around 6-9 months now. The tempaerature is at a steady 78F.
Basically, what usually happens is that a fish will appear lathargic, and just sit on the bottom of the tank and not move, even when I tap on the glass. After a week or so of this, they just die.
The fish I just found with half its body missing is the first I have seen like that, but there is a guppy in the tank right now with a swollen belly and her scales are sticking out.
At first I thought it was a swim bladder problem with the fact that their swimming seems inhibited, but I used a swimbladder treatment and the problem still remains.
I am now thinking that its either an internal bacterial infection, or a case of some sort of parasite.
I have a treatment for internal bacterial nasties, and also some methyline blue. Which should I use. I need an answer quickly as I think other fish may well die soon.
