After they grow over 3" the salmonella usually goes away. That's why it was made illegel to sell turtles under 3" in Michigan 20 years ago. I'm not sure about the laws here in Hawaii, I've only been here 3 years, but I've never seen one under 3" in the lfs.
But I still always washed my hands after handling them, cause there always could be salmonella.

I'm surprised no one has asked this yet. What was that crazy noise in the background of your video? Bird or somthing?

I was wondering if anyone would ask that. One of my wifes students brought a couple of baby goats for show and tell, they were in a cage on the other side of the room. When the children went outdoors for recess the goats got loud.

Great video... I was wondering about the goat also ;) Anyway, the turtle's awesome!

I had one that if you put her on the floor and started walking she would follow. If you stopped, she would stop too. She had this thing for a rubbing under the neck and would fall asleep in your hand... My parents has a 2 acre yard with about 1/5 of an acre fenced in the corner. We dug out a hole and created a pond for the turtle and then she ran away...

They also love tried shrimp and will eat them out of your hand.

Cool tank :D

Thanx for the offer, it's been 20 years since I've had a turtle and I don't remember anything. So far everything is O K but I will bother you when (not if) i have some questions.

That is soo kewl, I am amazed how smart these things are. And thanx for the feeding tip, for the last year I've just given it dry turtle food, then the last few months I've been throwing snails in the tank too. I've been thinking about adding something it enjoys to it's diet. It hardly eats the turtle food anymore since I started giving it snails.
