3rd is 100% spur thigh, hes only a baby tho

the 2nd nopey thats not his breed, i have his paperwork somewhere, will have to look lol

cool photo's, what happened to make the poor little fella blind ?

2nd looks mediterranean to me and not like any of the largest tortoise species?!? :)

its coz hes a baby, no where near fully grown

gah how many people r gonna question me, lol he is a large species but again isnt fully grown

Harry is blind, not sure why, he had some sort of infection a while back, and has never opened his eyes since, and the vet is stumped, so basically hes blind

People are just curious that's all :)

As I said he doesnt look like a hatchling/juvenile of any of the largest species of tortoise in the world, so I'm intrigued and perhaps if you checked your paperwork my interest would be satisfied :D

More to the point, how do you care for it appropriately if you dont know what species it is until you check it's papers?

hmmmm maybe because we first got him, we have a set diet for his particular species, and funnily enough that diet hasnt really changed much and does suit for his species, just becuase i cannot remember his species of the top of the head doesnt mean that i do not care for him properly

I come on here to post pics of my lil guys, coz theyre just so cute, and i wanted to share the pictures with you all, and now ur insinuating that i do not look after them properly, really not impressed how ive just been questioned the way i have? I look after them all very well and they are happy lil guys

now get off ur soap box and give me a break

think i will just still to the betta section if this is how other people act :(

I don't think anyone meant to question you in a bad way Phoenixbaby, there were 2 members that asked you ... mostly because they believed it to be a different species (not in an argumentative way) and were curious as to what exactly he/she is. We've had it with dogs on this forum before, people don't mean to question you, they're just curious and would like to know the answer to satisfy their own wondering.

As for the question as to how you know you're raising it properly if you don't know what species it is, I don't believe it was asked with any malcontent meant. Though I can understand why you might have read it like that, I think I would have done the same had I been asked the question.

Your answer explains how you know you're doing the right thing though =) And it makes sense you can't remember everything! One of my dogs isn't a pure breed, and I can't remember exactly what crosses he has in him without checking the paperwork on his parents ... that doesn't mean I don't know what to feed him though, or how much exercise he needs. As when we got him, I did know his breeds and did my research. I imagine it's the same for you.

I'm sure the 2 members that asked you the breed of your tortoise would still love to know the answer though. Not to prove you wrong in any way, just because they've seen a gorgeous pet and are curious/want to test their own knowledge. Don't take offence in it =)

As for everyone else ... please don't let this thread get out of hand because of this.

I saw your pics befor they where removed and I thought they where cute too. I'm sorry one of them when't blind. I'd like to have a turtle one day.
