My tiger barbs are being evicted!!

i'm midway through setting a species barb tank at the moment too - got 8 in a 15 gal at the moment, but am maturing a 30 to move them into soon as its ready. I have 2 green and 6 regular barbs at the moment, was thinking of perhaps a couple of albiinos and then 4-6 black ruby barbs for a bit of variety - anyone mixed the two? if so how'd they get on? was thinking perhaps a lone red-tail shark in there was well, any thoughts on that idea?

hi guys from 2004! i am from the future - 2009! pretty cool huh? im 13 too and i thought i was the only kid in the world that had a fish tank of my own haha. Lucky us!

I would say they are fin nippers as long as they are the most aggresive in the tank. I have only 4 with a Firemouth/Kissing Gourami's/Pearl Gourami's and a RTBS and they do not bother any fish. They don't even fight amongst themselves. Occasionally the RTBS chases them but they really don't hurt any of my fish. I have found that the only problem I ever had with fin nipping was when I bought 4 serpae tetras and they went nuts and nipped every fish in my tank inc. the tiger barbs. They were swiftly returned to the LFS.
