Hi, I am new to tropical fish, and this forum is really cool. I just wanted to say hello, and show off my first 3 fish, they are all Platies, One male named Mamo, and two unnamed females.

Welcome to the forum! How small/big is your tank, and have you learnt about 'cycling' your tank/s? :)
My three little guy's hang out in your basic 10 gallon glass aquarium, I picked Platies cause I read here that they are pretty hearty fish and good for beginners, plus they look cool.

As far as "Cycling" goes I have read most of the stuff about it on this site. The fishless cycling sounds interesting (using amonia and all that). But since my fish are already in the tank, I guess I am doing it the "Traditional" way, I'll just have see If they can tough it out, they seem nice and healthy to me so far, so we will see, I will probably wait at least a couple months b4 I think about adding any new fish.

Its great that a 'newbie' get's it 'right' and have done some prior research. Good stuff, Doda!

Just make sure you keep an eye on your water measurements, and the health of your platy's because they'll be the first to tell you if there's anything wrong (a hint and a nudge!).

Good luck, and I hope you have many fry's! :)

Welcome, platies are great fish. I have three left in my community tank that are now 2 years old. They come close to the glass so I can measure them from tip to tail, they measure 3 1/2 " :hyper:

They are females and monsters, I have never had them this big before. They are the only three left from my fry in my community tank.

Good luck and have fun.....bugsy :)

My first aquarium was platies also. They are easy going and just love swimming
around the tank and looking beautiful.

Congratulations! I like that idea of giving them names.
