Hey guys. My 250 gallon Tropical fish tank leaked. So I had to transfer all my fish into the 40 gallon goldfish tank until I can get another.

I know its VERY bad, considering the fish species inside the tank and I can honestly say it has a 75% of failing (Aka, all the fish will die). But I have been running it for 6 months now and I could get a new tank for the trops within a month. I'm surprised myself how my fish had grown from penny-sized to large beauties. Without further ado, my Temporary tank with its inhabitants.

The tank itself. Dont mind the stickers and the plastic toys. My sister has been playing.

hello...
are you in the uk? cant you get some large plastic storage boxes or something like that from argos? that looks super crowded and it might be good to take the plastic fish out?
every little inch they take up is less room for the fish.

Well I've tried, but every time I do, my sis puts a new set of platic fish in there. -w-''

Even before the tank was leaking. And it IS super crowded. It will be a problem since the Rams have taken their territory if they spawn.

thats not a 40g tank anyway it looks tiny. I cant even believe that the discus rams etc have lived in there for 6 months, is it heated?

Theres no real excuse for that as there are so many cheap tanks on the market on second hand auction sites etc that you could remedy this situation asap instead of keeping sensitive species of tropical fish so thoughtlessly

Sounds like an elaborate story to justify you keeping so many fish in such little space, the tank sizes seem made up.

You really need to do something with these, its cruel, your fish are not happy, get a bigger tank asap or give them to someone who can care from them properly.

I agree with Simon and meejo.

TBH, if I had a tank like that, I'd be too embarrassed to post pictures of it :(

I can see that some of your fish are already being stunted; see how big the eyes on the discus and the black moor are, compared to their bodies? That's a sign of stunting, poor water quality and poor nutrition.

You should either get a new tank or rehome some fish.

I'm sorry if that sounds harsh and that we're all 'having a go' (which, to be fair, we are) but it's only because we care very deeply about fish and their welfare, and we want to see tham all happy and healthy, which yours are most certainly not :(

wow......

If it takes you over a week or two (even that is too much) id give the fish back to your lfs asap. You have a coldwater species of fish mixed with an extremely picky/fussy warm water fish....dont know how you even manage to keep up with it all as sooner or later their gonna hit the sack if they didnt already in what looks like a 5 or 10 gallon tank.... if you really care aboyt your fish youd known that you are un able to kep them and would take them to a suitable home. Would like to hear/see an update.

Oh my god. Shocked is all i can say to be honest, PLEASE go and get some storage boxes or at least several very cheap second hand smaller tanks to separate them into if you havent by now!!!

old thread and no sign of the OP since it was started. Flaming is not called for.
