I have had my 24g nano tank for 1 week now and have had a few small problems but got through them with a lot off help off all the people on this site that are more than willing to help you out. :good:

Over the last 24hrs or so the tank has really come to life lots of small critters swimming about. But probably the most exiting thing I have seen so far is a small crap which brings me to my question is it a keeper and what is it called

I will try to describe it as best I can. It is about the size of a 50pence has a flat back browney grey in colour with lighter spots all over its claws are wider at the bottom of its arms than at the top . its legs come to a point are lighter at the tips they also look hairy, I have seen it hanging up side down from the rocks eating algae.
Any help or advice much appreciated :good:

Sounds similar to the one I had. It started like that and it's grown a bit and has become jet black. It's a nasty bugger. Eaten one of my shrimps already and is pecking at the starfish. Most crabs like this are opportunistic feeders - if they can catch something they will try and will eat it. Catch it if you can and take it to your LFS for them to deal with!

I was skimming this post really fast and thought it said if you catch it it will try to eat you!! Although if they could I think crabs might try!!........ :shifty:

Regards

I agree with Jason, get it out and identified before it causes any damage, it took me about a year to finally catch a crab which was killing things in my tank and then was only becasue I moved house and had to take all the rock out anyway, much easier to catch it now without fish / corals in the tank
