Nice! Very neat and tidy. Would you entertain some live floating / free floating plants? The tetras would probably appreciate it

Sounds good. Go for it. I’ve found many fish prefer shelter from tank lights

Thinking of putting a black background on the tank any recommendations as it will be difficult to stick one on with it being near the wall

I like the more natural look. For a black background you can just use a piece of black trash bag and tape it on.

How long has your tank been set up? Did you cycle it? I ask because everything looks so...CLEAN! ha ha If you didn't cycle before adding fish, be ready to do large, frequent water changes. I would also recommend some floating plants. Hornwort, frogbit, duckweed are some common and easy to grow plants.

I have had it going a few month now

I cycled the tank with fish by slowly adding fish week by week

That was what I was told to do from the lfs as this was the first tank I have ever had

And I have just changed the deco today the wood and rock etc

Black construction paper works well, I had it on all my tanks. Tape it to the outside (obviously). It is not shiny so it does not reflect (better for fish), it brings out the fish and plant and decor colours, and it makes the space seem more spacious.

I recently purchased black disposable tablecloths from Amazon as backgrounds for two tanks. I attach them with duct tape. Easy to apply & remove. I used aqua ones before & decided the black would work better with my EBA & hot pink GloFish. I’ve also used black foam or poster board on smaller tanks.
